  • Type: Bolo Tie
A bolo tie (sometimes called a bola tie or shoestring necktie) is a type of
necktieconsisting of a piece of cord or braided leather with decorative metal
tips (called aiguillettes) and secured with an ornamental clasp or slide.
Bolo ties are mostly associated with the Southwest US, especially the Hopi,
Navajo, Zuni & Pueblo Indian Nations. In the 1980's & '90's, Rockabilly and New
Wave music caused the bolo tie to become popular fashion choices and they were
everywhere! For better or worse...
These bolo ties are 30-35 years old and lovingly worn when I was younger. They
are in good shape and ready for your next cosplay accessorizing.
Bolo Tie #1: Shows a Harlequin mask slide in black & gold (base metal) on a
black cord. The tips show some wear; the gold/brass tone is showing silver
underneath. The mask does not slide on the cord; it never did.
Bolo Tie #2: A silver tone slide with a faux ruby red gem in the center on a
black faux leather cord & silver tone tips. The cord is in good shape, no
fraying. The slide does indeed slide along the cord.
Bolo Tie #3: The brass colored slide has a medallion style with fleur de lis
arranged around a black glass(?) gem. The cord is black faux leather that is in
good shape. The tips are bronze base metal. The medallion slides freely on the
cord.
Bolo Tie #4: The slide is very science fiction-y, almost like something from
Star Trek, which is probably why I purchased it. It was formed to resemble
beaten copper and is crowned by an oval clear glass gem.The cord is black faux
leather that is in good shape. The tips are bronze base metal. The medallion
slides freely on the cord.
Whether you wish to honor your western heritage or accessorize your favorite
halloween or cosplay convention costume (cowboy vampire or cowboy Loki variant,
anybody?), these bolo ties will make a great addition to your stash of neckwear.
