The fabric was designed by Sitka with help from Snell Scientifics to create a textile that was lightweight and reduced the likelihood of mosquito bites. This special fabric was then treated with Insect Shield protection, which repels mosquitos, ticks, ants, chiggers, and other nuisance insects.
