Up for sale here is this rebuild kit for the Grommes LJ-2 amplifier, also sold
as the Realist Little Jewel and Realistic Little Jewel amplifier. At this point
these are around 70 year old, and the old capacitors are weak and failing. We
will make them new again!
This kit includes replacements for all capacitors in the amplifier, including
the 4-section can capacitor, the axial electrolytic capacitors, the
tubular/bumblebee/molded capacitors, and the disc capacitors. It also includes
an adapter plate to help replace the can cap and two resistors to replace the
ones that are wired across the can capacitor sections. You will also receive
instructions to explain how to install everything. This does not include any
tubes or other parts. You will get the exact parts shown in the pictures.
Capacitors are new Supertech axial and radial electrolytic capacitors and
Supertech axial film capacitors, as well as one radial Panasonic or Nichicon
electrolytic cap. New capacitors are the same or very close to the original uf
ratings, and the same or improved voltages.
I will include surprisingly well-written instructions, but this is a bit
complicated, and you should know what you're doing and have a decent soldering
iron. This kit will not fix everything that could be wrong with your equipment,
but it will certainly help. Please see my pictures for details.
