Black Madeira
These large, beautiful dark purple to black skin figs fruit from the Island of
Madeira, Portugal. Fruit has a closed eye making it rot resistant. It is ranked
as one of the best tasting figs and is a must have for any fig lover. They
Ripen July-August.
The Black Madeira Fig is sought after by collectors, due to the excellent
unique flavor. Just like humans, plants can develop their own unique traits
overtime. According to numerous Fig Collectors who have followed our Black
Maderia’s for years, they have identified a unique change of leaf patterns
starting with the spade with three lobes during their early growth, changing
patterns over time, and then returning to the more common spade with three
lobes at maturity.
